      Jim Chatto’s focus is always on site transparency. This wine reflects that intent with lifted aromatics, fine tannins and sustained energy through the finish. Franklinii is the newest regional wine in the Chatto range, sitting alongside Lutruwita and offering another lens into southern Tasmania’s potential for detailed, age-worthy Pinot Noir.

      Jim Chatto is one of Australia’s most respected winemakers, a craftsman with over 25 years of experience and an unwavering devotion to Pinot Noir. A former Chief Winemaker for both McWilliam’s and Kreglinger/Pipers Brook, and a former Chair of Judges for the National Wine Show of Australia, Jim brings precision and purpose to every vintage.

      His story began in Tasmania in the late 1990s, where he fell in love with the region’s cool-climate Pinot and the land that would later become home. Alongside his wife Daisy, Jim established Chatto Wines in pursuit of Pinot at its most expressive, wines that speak clearly of place, balance, and time. From their small vineyard in the Huon Valley, Jim crafts limited releases that have earned critical acclaim and a loyal following of collectors who understand his quiet pursuit of excellence.
