The 2019 Château St. Georges Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion is a classic expression from one of the most historically significant estates in Bordeaux’s right bank. Situated just northeast of Saint-Émilion proper, the château’s 45-hectare vineyard lies on limestone-rich slopes, with clay and gravel contributing to both structure and aromatic lift. The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc reflects traditional proportions, with Merlot providing plush fruit, Cabernet Franc lending fragrance and finesse, and Cabernet Sauvignon adding backbone.

Vinification follows traditional Bordelais methods, with extended maceration and oak maturation to bring depth and integration. The 2019 vintage, marked by excellent growing conditions, produced wines of both generosity and tension. This bottling offers immediate pleasure in its dark-fruited richness, but has the structure to reward careful cellaring over the next 8–12 years. An ideal match for roast lamb, grilled duck breast or earthy lentil-based dishes.

      Chateau St. Georges

Château Saint-Georges is a historic wine estate located in the small Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, an area with a viticultural history stretching back more than two thousand years. The château sits on the highest point of the appellation, a site once associated with Gallo-Roman vineyards and long valued for its advantageous exposure and soils. Over the centuries, the estate evolved from its medieval origins into an elegant 18th-century château, reflecting both architectural refinement and agricultural continuity. Since the late 19th century, Château Saint-Georges has remained under family ownership, ensuring long-term stewardship and consistency in winemaking direction. The vineyard covers approximately 44 hectares, planted predominantly with Merlot, alongside smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. These vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils that are characteristic of the Saint-Émilion region and well suited to producing structured yet supple wines. Vineyard work is carefully managed with close attention to vine health, yields, and ripeness, emphasizing quality over quantity. In the cellar, traditional Bordeaux techniques are paired with modern controls, allowing the maker to preserve the estate’s heritage while crafting wines that express both precision and elegance.
