Caroline Morey Santenay La Comme 1er Cru Rouge 2024 is a finely detailed Pinot Noir from one of Santenay’s recognised Premier Cru climats. The La Comme vineyard lies beside Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Embazées, a position that contributes to the wine’s graceful and refined character. Caroline Morey established her domaine in 2014 after receiving an initial share of vineyards from her father, Jean-Marc Morey. Her estate now extends across approximately seven hectares in Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Beaune. The domaine is sustainably farmed, with the red wines handled gently to preserve freshness, perfume and finesse.
Approximately 35% whole bunches were used for the 2024 La Comme, layered at the bottom of the fermentation vessel. The wine displays a delicate appearance, although its crimson colour possesses greater depth than the village Santenay bottling. Fine strawberry and raspberry aromas introduce a bright, fragrant and distinctly elegant expression of Pinot Noir. The palate is silky and mouth-filling through the centre, combining ripe red fruit with refined tannins and a subtle peppery accent. Its restrained structure and fresh acidity reflect Caroline Morey’s characteristically light and precise winemaking style. The finish carries satisfying length, leaving raspberry fruit, gentle spice and a lingering impression of finesse.
