Camille Giroud, a Swiss wine merchant, marries Miss Deschamps and takes over her family's wine trade firm, which he renames Maison Giroud Deschamps. In 1903, the company becomes known as Camille Giroud and establishes its premises in Beaune. Unlike other wine merchants, Camille only buys musts and finished wines, relying on his talent as a wine maturer to establish the reputation of his company. After Camille's death, his youngest son, Lucien, takes over and maintains the family tradition. In the 1990s, the company faces financial difficulties and Bernard and François Giroud begin to buy grapes instead of purchasing wine. David Croix joins the Maison in 2001, launching new projects and building a new vat house. In 2002, Ann Colgin and other investors take over the company, with David Croix named as Manager in 2007. The Maison remains exclusive and pursues new projects under the leadership of Carel Voorhuis.

Volnay is a village located on the Côte de Beaune, standing against the Montagne du Chaignot. Its reputation has been established for centuries by Knights of the Order of Malta, monks of the Abbeys of Saint-Andoche d’Autun and Maizières, dukes, and kings. The village was called Volenay in 1160, and its name may come from a Latin surname Volumnius or have a Celtic origin with the word "vol," which alludes to the idea of round, as the village is situated in a corrie.

Camille Giroud Volnay 2020 comes from vines that are situated in Volnay in the locality named Les Lurets and Les Cros Martin, under the Premiers Crus area. These vines are between 15 and 50 years old, facing East/South-East and at an altitude between 225 and 235 meters. They are planted on brown soil made of sediments overlying Jurassic limestone. Camille Giroud Volnay 2020 has a fresh and finely tight nose with notes of raspberry, small pulpy red fruits, violet, lilac, fresh violet and fresh nutmeg. On the palate, it is fruity and offers freshness, good definition, minerality, roundness, a nice texture, deepness and fine straightness. The wine expresses notes of blackberry, cherry, small red fruits, fresh flowers, blueberry, star anise and nutmeg. The tannins are supple and elegant, and there is a nice bitterness on the finish, making it a delicate and delightful wine. Camille Giroud Pommard Les Cras 2020 is an excellent pairing for beef, veal, game and poultry dishes.
