Several years have passed since Bruicchladdich last ran this unpeated spirit though their stills in their ethereal, Victorian stillhouse. Those working in the stillhouse in 1994 would have no concept of the destiny of this spirit and the now eight edition of the notorious Bruichladdich Black Art. For Head Distiller, Adam Hannett, this is now his fourth release in the Black Art series. We do not know the types of casks used as this information is kept a secret by Hannett. What we do know from this 1994 vintage un-peated Islay single malt is this spirit was matured entirely on Islay, non-chill filtered, colouring free, and the 12,000 individually numbered bottles were bottled at 45.1%.
The cask influence here is not the same style as previous editions but it has shaped this spirit beautifully, allowing more mellow, less intense style to come through. – Adam Hannett, Head Distiller
