Powerful spice, tropical fruit richness and remarkable depth define this celebrated cask strength Irish whiskey from the historic Spot Whiskey range. Blue Spot 7 Year Old Cask Strength Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey revives a long-dormant expression originally produced by the Mitchell family wine merchants, whose “Spot” range became iconic within Irish whiskey history. Crafted at Midleton Distillery, the whiskey is made from a traditional mash bill of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills, preserving the creamy texture and spice characteristic of classic Single Pot Still Irish whiskey. Matured in a combination of Bourbon barrels, Sherry butts and Madeira casks, the whiskey gains exceptional complexity and layered sweetness while retaining freshness and vibrancy.

Bottled at natural cask strength, Blue Spot delivers impressive intensity balanced by precision and structure. The nose opens with ripe tropical fruits, baked apple and toasted oak layered with pot still spice and hints of nutmeg and clove. On the palate, the whiskey is rich and mouth-coating, carrying flavours of dried fruit, vanilla, dark chocolate and sweet spice alongside citrus oils and orchard fruit freshness. The influence of Madeira casks contributes additional depth and exotic fruit character without overpowering the spirit’s core identity. Despite its strength, the whiskey remains remarkably balanced, with lively acidity and creamy texture providing harmony and length. Non-chill filtered and bottled with full flavour integrity, it offers both immediate impact and evolving complexity in the glass. Bold yet refined, Blue Spot stands as one of the most compelling modern expressions of traditional Irish pot still whiskey.

      Midleton

Midleton's heritage stretches back to the 19th century, with Master Distiller Emeritus Barry Crockett famously likening the craft of making fine whiskey to conducting an orchestra—each note carefully harmonized to create a symphonic masterpiece. This tradition has been carried forward by Kevin O'Gorman, whose passion and expertise continue to uphold Midleton’s reputation as one of the finest Irish whiskeys.

In the early 1900s, Irish whiskey faced near collapse, beset by challenges from the Irish War of Independence and U.S. Prohibition. Despite these setbacks, Midleton persevered, spearheading a new era in Irish whiskey. Midleton Very Rare emerged as a beacon of quality, upheld by the vision and craftsmanship of three master distillers: Barry Crockett, Brian Nation, and now Kevin O’Gorman.
