The wine is produced from Bass Phillip’s original Estate vineyard near Leongatha, a densely planted site established in 1979. The Estate, Premium and Reserve Pinot Noirs are drawn from designated rows and subplots within this historic vineyard, with each tier vinified separately according to the character and quality of its fruit. The vineyard’s silty loam and clay soils lie over volcanic bedrock and are cultivated without irrigation, reflecting the naturally cool and comparatively moist conditions of southern Gippsland.
