Barringwood Mill Block Pinot Noir shows a soft raspberry red colour in the glass. The wine presents a generous nose of cherries and raspberries underlined by earthy and cherry tones. The gentle and fruity palate gives way to delicate spiciness and vibrant minerality. These enticing characters culminate the wine in a long and elegant finish marked by fine and powdery tannins. This tempting Tasmanian Pinot Noir tastes excellent with truffles, dark chocolate, or washed rind cheese.
Hand picked grapes were destemmed to open top fermenter with 15% whole bunches included, then cold soaked for 5 days. Fermentation commenced naturally with a yeast inoculation after one third of sugar was fermented. On completion of primary fermentation wine was pressed French oak (20% new) barrels where it was aged for 10 months.
Barringwood vineyard is located on a steep north facing slope over looking the Don Valley in Tasmania’s North West. Established in 1993 the vineyard rises to an elevation of 280m and has a long mild growing season perfectly suited to growing elegant complex wines with great length.
