Bannockburn’s flagship Pinot Noir, Serré, is a vineyard and wine of rare distinction. First planted in 1984 and extended in 1986, it is considered the oldest high-density Pinot Noir block in Australia. Inspired by Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, Stuart Hooper chose tight vine spacing and low trellising to capture the depth and complexity of Europe’s great vineyards. Certified organic in 2021, Serré continues to deliver fruit of extraordinary concentration and structure from its basalt and limestone soils.
The 2024 Serré was handpicked, destemmed and fermented on skins for 10 days before maturation in French oak hogsheads, 40% new. It is a wine of presence and gravity — dark fruits and spice on the nose, with a firm, powerful palate marked by tightly woven tannin and layered depth. The warmer season lends generosity, but the vineyard’s character ensures definition and longevity. Built for age, Serré remains the benchmark expression of Bannockburn Pinot Noir.
