A Guide to Greek Wine, Spirits & More
Greece has one of the world's oldest wine and drinking cultures, but its contemporary landscape is far more interesting than history alone suggests.
Indigenous varieties such as Assyrtiko, Xinomavro, Agiorgitiko and Mavrotragano sit alongside distinctive regional traditions, from Santorini's volcanic vineyards to the red wines of northern Greece. Beyond wine, Greece has its own deeply established spirits culture built around Ouzo, Tsipouro, Tsikoudia and Mastiha, alongside contemporary gin, vodka, vermouth, beer and other releases.
Our Greek collection brings those worlds together, with wines, spirits and pantry goods that offer a broader view of what Greece produces today.
Santorini & Assyrtiko
Few places have become as closely associated with modern Greek wine as Santorini.
The island's volcanic soils, dry climate and exposure to strong Aegean winds create an unusual environment for viticulture. Assyrtiko is its defining grape, retaining freshness and structure while producing wines capable of remarkable intensity.
Our Santorini range includes wines from producers such as Gaía, Domaine Sigalas and SantoWines, spanning young Assyrtiko through to mature releases, Nykteri, Grande Reserve and experimental bottlings.
Gaía's Thalassitis Submerged project takes that experimentation considerably further, with bottles matured beneath the Aegean Sea.
For anyone approaching Greek wine for the first time, Santorini and Assyrtiko provide one of its clearest starting points.
Beyond Santorini
Assyrtiko is no longer confined to its island home.
Producers elsewhere in Greece have explored the variety in different soils and climates, creating wines that retain its naturally high acidity while presenting a different expression from volcanic Santorini.
Our collection includes mainland Assyrtiko alongside the Santorini wines, providing an opportunity to see how one of Greece's most recognised varieties changes with place.
The wider Greek white wine landscape extends well beyond Assyrtiko too, with numerous indigenous varieties and regional traditions forming part of the country's increasingly diverse modern wine culture.
Xinomavro & Northern Greece
In northern Greece, Xinomavro produces some of the country's most distinctive red wines.
The variety is particularly associated with Naoussa, where it can produce structured, savoury and age-worthy wines with pronounced acidity and tannin.
Our range includes Naoussa Xinomavro from Kir-Yianni, offering a very different perspective on Greek wine from the saline whites of Santorini.
Together, Assyrtiko and Xinomavro demonstrate just how broad the country's wine landscape can be: one shaped by islands and mountains, volcanic soils and continental climates, white wines of tension and reds built for development.
Retsina, Vinsanto & Greek Wine Traditions
Some Greek wines sit outside the familiar international framework of red, white and rosé.
Retsina is one of the country's oldest surviving wine traditions, distinguished by the use of Aleppo pine resin during winemaking. Contemporary examples can be fresh, dry and precise, retaining the resinous character that defines the style without allowing it to dominate the wine.
On Santorini, Vinsanto represents another longstanding tradition. Produced from sun-dried grapes and matured for extended periods, these naturally sweet wines offer a dramatically different expression of the island's varieties.
Our range also extends into Nykteri, sparkling wine and mature Santorini releases, reflecting a Greek wine culture that reaches well beyond conventional table wine.
Ouzo
Few Greek spirits are as immediately recognisable as Ouzo.
Anise defines its aromatic character, with individual producers developing their own recipes around botanicals and distillation. Traditionally served with water, ice and food, it remains closely connected to the social drinking culture of Greece.
Our collection includes Ouzo from producers such as Plomari, Barbayanni, Mini and Ouzo 12, across different bottlings and formats.
Styles vary from classic expressions to more specialised releases, making Ouzo a category worth exploring by producer rather than treating it as a single uniform spirit.
Tsipouro & Tsikoudia
Tsipouro is a grape-based spirit with deep roots in mainland Greece. It may be produced with or without anise and ranges from clear, traditional bottlings to aged expressions matured in oak.
Our range includes classic and aged Tsipouro from producers including Katogi Averoff, Dekaraki, Katsaros and Tsilili.
On Crete, the related tradition of Tsikoudia holds a similarly important place in local drinking culture. Our collection includes Cretan examples from Manousakis Winery and Kretaraki.
Together, these spirits offer one of the clearest links between Greek wine growing and distillation.
Mastiha
Mastiha brings an entirely different flavour to Greek spirits.
Its defining ingredient is mastic, the aromatic resin traditionally associated with the island of Chios. The resulting spirits and liqueurs have a distinctive profile that can move between herbal, pine-like, gently sweet and refreshing.
Our range includes Skinos Mastiha alongside Mastic Tears and contemporary variations incorporating flavours such as lemon and coffee.
Served chilled, over ice or used in cocktails, Mastiha represents one of Greece's most distinctive contributions to the modern spirits cabinet.
Metaxa & Modern Greek Spirits
Greek spirits extend considerably beyond Ouzo and Tsipouro.
Metaxa occupies its own distinctive place, combining aged wine distillates with Muscat wines and Mediterranean botanicals. Our collection spans several expressions, from 7 Stars and 12 Stars through to Private Reserve and Grande Fine.
Contemporary Greek distillers are also working across more internationally familiar categories, with gin, vodka, vermouth and liqueurs now sitting alongside the country's traditional spirits.
These bottles provide another view of modern Greek drinks culture: rooted in local ingredients and traditions, but not restricted by them.
Greek Beer
Beer has its place in the collection too.
Our range includes Mamos, a Greek beer with roots in Patras, available across several formats and styles.
Alongside wine and traditional spirits, it provides a more everyday expression of Greek drinking culture and a natural companion to the food and flavours of the country.
From the Greek Pantry
The collection extends beyond the glass.
Our Platana Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced in Arcadia in the Peloponnese from Manaki olives, bringing one of Greece's most fundamental ingredients into the KSC range.
Available across several bottle sizes and larger formats, it connects the collection back to the table, where wine, spirits, food and hospitality have always been closely intertwined.
