An Australian icon with global gravity. Penfolds Grange needs no introduction. First crafted as an experiment in 1951 by Max Schubert, this 2021 vintage continues the legacy with a wine of commanding depth and structure. A blend of 94% Shiraz and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon drawn from Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley, it captures the full Penfolds philosophy—multi-vineyard, multi-district, and uncompromising in style.
The 2021 is already hailed as one of the great modern Grange vintages, shaped by ideal growing conditions and meticulous winemaking. Matured in 100% new American oak hogsheads, it’s a wine of immense longevity and presence, yet one with surprising finesse. This release marks a high point in Grange’s seven-decade lineage, presented in its signature gift box for collectors and purists alike.

Quite simply, a wow wine… seamless, intense and immaculate with knife‑edge balance. It simply dances with joy… This is as close to a perfect Grange as I can imagine.
This is a spectacular Grange… a landmark Grange… never tasted a Grange with this individuality and presence.
Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2021 is a stellar release. … This 2021 release shows minor signs of development, unusual for a Grange on release. The nose smells of sweet balsamic, chocolate‑coated raisins, plums, meats, grates of citrus rind, a march of crushed ants, cigar smoke and toasted rye. The palate itself is defined by its tannin… tooled tight but ushering cushions of fruit along with it. There’s leather, and mint, and plum, and a toasty‑toffeed note… This release stands out – particularly on the nose – as quite different.
Unquestionably destined for greatness, … composure and assuredness every step of the way. A staggeringly complex array of aromas: boysenberry, blueberry, mulberry, Dutch licorice, roasted quince, coriander seed; scorched beef fat, ristretto and panforte. Sculpted muscle, vertiginous depth, tannins tightened to travel across decades. A truly great Grange.
Penfolds has been a pioneer in the world of winemaking since its establishment in 1844 by Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold. The company's success has been driven by a lineage of visionary winemakers who have pushed the development of the company to extraordinary, bold new heights. Mary Penfold's reign at the helm of Penfolds saw years of determination and endeavour, experimenting with new methods in wine production. In 1948, Max Schubert became the company's first Chief Winemaker and he propelled Penfolds onto the global stage with his experimentation of long-lasting wines - the creation of Penfolds Grange in the 1950s. Soon, the medals began flowing, and Grange quickly became one of the most revered wines around the world. In 2012, Penfolds released its most innovative project to date - 12 handcrafted ampoules of the rare 2004 Kalimna Block Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Penfolds continues to hold dear the philosophies and legends that have driven the company's success since its establishment in 1844.
At Penfolds, winemaking is not just about producing wine; it is about creating something extraordinary that endures. The philosophy behind Penfolds is grounded in a balance between tradition and innovation. Every bottle is a reflection of this philosophy, blending the art of winemaking with scientific precision and modern technology. Penfolds’ commitment to quality has seen generations of winemakers continually refine their craft, while their constant curiosity drives them to experiment and explore new possibilities. Penfolds wines are a celebration of the unique Australian terroir, harnessing the country’s diverse regions to produce wines of exceptional character and complexity.
Penfolds’ philosophy extends beyond just the winemaking process—it’s about creating wines that can be enjoyed today or cellared for future generations. With a focus on balance, structure, and depth, every bottle is designed to stand the test of time. Whether it’s a rich, full-bodied red or a crisp, elegant white, Penfolds wines are crafted to bring people together, to inspire conversations, and to be savoured and shared. Their ability to evolve and adapt, while maintaining a consistent commitment to quality, has solidified Penfolds as one of the world’s most respected and celebrated winemakers.
Black plum, dark chocolate and liquorice with subtle smoked meats and exotic spice.
Layered blackberry, espresso, and toasted oak with immense concentration and fine tannins.
A seamless tail of dark fruit, spice and savoury grip; long-lived and tightly wound.
