Teremana is a highland tequila which makes it a bright and fruity, as opposed to lowland tequila, which generally has a more earthy and savoury character overall. There are three main styles of tequila: blanco, which is un-aged; reposado, which spends up to three months in American oak barrels that once held whiskey; and añejo. The Teremana Anejo is matured in previously filled American oak ex-bourbon barrels for at least 12 months. It's slightly flinty and smoky with a strong presence of dried apricots. On the palate there is a sweetness that reminiscent of maple syrup while still holding on to the fruity aromatics. There's roasted agave notes toward the back palate and with citrus peel and chocolatey finish.

Created in a small town in the highlands of Jalisco, founder Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson worked with a Mexican family-owned distillery to build a unique home on the grounds solely for Teremana - Destilería Teremana de Agave. The name means "spirit of the earth"--TERE from the Latin word for "earth" and MANA from the Polynesian word for "spirit."
Teremana is crafted the right way, driven by a love for great tequila, it is handmade in small batches Teremana take sustainability seriously and work to reduce their impact on the land. Taking 100% of the left over agave fibres from production and turning them into natural compost used as an organic fertiliser for the agave fields. Also a state of the art water filtration system cleans the waste water left over from production. They continue to strive to reduce their footprint and to take care of their home for generations to come.
Crafted in a small Mexican town, amidst the highest peaks of the Jalisco Highlands, every step of the tequila-making process is meticulously done to create delicious tequila that truly honours the land it comes from. Utilising local businesses and practices allows them to create their own sustainable ultra premium tequila. Utilising 100% brick oven roasting allows Teremana to bring out the bright citrus flavours of Jalisco highlands agave. This traditional process takes time, roasting for 3 days before shredding the agave to extract the juices for fermentation. The left over agave fibres go towards organic compost for the agave fields. After the open tank fermenting process, Teremana is then distilled using handmade copper pot stills. These stills were made by a local artisan on the premises of the distillery. The nature of the handmade copper stills not only harkens back to the days of traditional tequila making processes, but also produces a cleaner, smoother tequila.
Chocolate orange, with dominant tangerine and satsuma notes along with milk chocolate.
The palate is rich and toffee-like, but the roasted agave notes do shine through.
There is a fascinating briny/petrol character that makes this a strong, neat sipping tequila.
