Selon Létang Cinsault 2020
Boutinot had been making wine from the Rhone Valley since the early 1980’s from across the region but really put some roots down when they were able to purchase some stunning vineyards some up to 50 years old in the AOP of Cairanne and establish a permanent winery on site.
“Delicat et Croquant” (delicate and crunchy) is how winemaker Guillaume Letang likes to describe this 100% Cinsault. They’ve been looking at Cinsault bottlings for a while now, searching in particular for one vinified in a light, fresh, ‘chilled red’ style and the Selon Letang is exactly that, just 12% alcohol. Sourced from the village of Saint George d’Orques near Montpellier at the start of the Languedoc. Cinsault traditionally has been part of blended reds such as Minervois and Corbieres, adding perfume plus it’s a thin skin/low tannic grape, perfect for rose and light bodied reds.
Unoaked, vibrant redcurrant, raspberry & tart cherry fruit with a wild, delicately tannic herbaceous edge. If you are looking for alternatives to Pinot Noir or Gamay for a delicate red this is worth looking at.
