A collaboration between William Downie & Jason Searle of Bass Phillip Save Our Souls is all about producing delicious wines that punch above their weight. Fruit is sourced from all over Victoria and the region changes year to year.
Ruby red appearance. Aromas of spice and poached fruits. Finely structured with a soft underlying bed of plum, blackberries and blueberries, lots of dark fruit characters and hints of vanilla. The finish is long, textured and savoury.
Bill Downie, one half of Save Our Souls, knows a thing or two about pinot, and it shows in this nicely complex, savoury and slippery textured wine. Dark plum, maraschino cherry and orange peel aromas intermingle with spice and damp earth notes. Medium bodied, this has both good depth and energy, and there’s enough sinewy tannins to suggest this will continue to improve over the next three to four years. - Phillip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion, 93 Points.
