This blanc has all the vigorous freshness associated with St-Aubin. A blend of multiple parcels totalling 1.64 ha, but all from this same village’s lieu-dit, with 3 generations of vines. In totality, this is the largest parcel of the domaine at over 1 hectare located at the end of the valley above the village of St Aubin. Inviting toasty reduction on the nose, pure white stone fruits on the palate, lovely tingly minerals and acidity to following. Tightly wound, delightful drinking.
This release according to Burghound "2022 is the best white Burgundy vintage since 2017 and rivals, if not surpasses, 2014 in quality. Genuinely great wines were made up and down the classification hierarchy and in every commune. Moreover, unlike 2021, quantities are good though not actually generous so there is a reasonable chance that you will be able to find them, a big plus because you will want to find them."
All the wines are made in 350 litre barrels, with crushed and cooled grapes, no settling of the solids after pressing, no lees stirring either, an early and rapid fermentation, then malolactics followed, finished by Christmas. The crushing and long pressing give a more concentrated dry extract. They were worried at the harvest by the relatively high pH levels, but the certainly don’t taste that way. The first two whites and the reds were racked before the harvest, the rest still in barrel. Note that in 2022 almost all the wines are from their own domaine, excepting Corton Charlemagne, Chassagne-Montrachet Baudines and part of the Meursault blend.

The 2022 Saint-Aubin Village blends four different lieux-dits in the appellation. This has a well-defined bouquet with orchard fruit, hints of orange blossom and white tea. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive concentration. Very good weight for a Saint-Aubin Village, and though not complex per se, it feels very persistent and fresh on the finish.
The 2022 Saint-Aubin Village has turned out nicely, bursting with aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, hazelnuts and white flowers. Medium-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, it's a charming, nicely balanced wine that concludes with a saline finish. Lieu-dit Le Banc, formerly bottled as such, makes up some 80% of the blend. The 2022 vintage is another success for Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, in style somewhat reminiscent, at this early stage, of the estate's 2020s.
‘This has been racked. Le Ban with several other vineyards included. Pale colour with lime green reflections. Just a little toasty note to the nose, with pure white fruit on the palate, with the vigorous freshness associated with St-Aubin. A tingling finish thanks to the mineral acidity. Drink from 2026-2029.’
Established as one of the young rising stars of Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in 2005 left his family Domaine, Marc Colin, where he gained a solid reputation for his outstanding white wines. Pierre-Yves took control of a share of the family vineyards (Domaine Marc Colin) from 2006 vintage. His first vintages have been made from vineyards and growers that he works closely with buying the wine as must and aging the wines in barrels which he has supplied. If the resulting wines meet his standards the barrels of wine purchased are then matured in his own cold cellar below his house in Chassagne Montrachet.
“This is not just one of the top domaines in the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is now well recognised as one of the greatest winemakers and domaines in the world. Consistently producing benchmark wines in each vintage.”

The Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate was born in 2001 from the association of Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc). Today they operate 13 hectares in the villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Their production consists of 92% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir and 3% of Aligoté grape variety. Working about 2 hectares from the family heritage, the other plots have come from different acquisitions over the last fifteen years, as well as a few plots in Fermages.
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s philosophy is simple yet profound: to create wines that speak to the unique character of their terroir. By embracing organic and biodynamic farming practices, he ensures that his vines are in harmony with nature, allowing each vineyard’s potential to shine through in the wines. In the winery, Pierre-Yves follows a minimal intervention approach, letting the natural yeast drive fermentation and allowing the wines to mature on their lees to develop depth and complexity. His wines are celebrated for their purity, elegance, and their ability to age gracefully, reflecting the precision of his craftsmanship and the distinctive beauty of Burgundy’s finest vineyards.
