Kilikanoon Prodigal Grenache 2013
Kilikanoon was establised in 1997 when proprietor and winemaker Kevin Mitchell purchased the property of the same name in the hamlet of Penwortham in South Australia’s picturesque Clare Valley. Hailing from a long line of wine grape growers, Kevin now had the opportunity to turn the vision of creating his own wine brand into a reality.
First made back in 1997 and still definitely one of the sentimental favourites in our Kilikanoon portfolio, the Prodigal continues to set the standard for Clare Valley old vine Grenache.
Bursts of liquorice, cola and redcurrant will keep most drinkers happy. This puts runs on the board quickly and keeps the scoreboard ticking over throughout. It pours the flavours on, soft and delicious for the most part but with earthen, coffeed tannin keeping the finish neat. - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
