Classic Alsace, shaped by history and limestone. Hugel’s Pinot Blanc Classic 2023 is a benchmark white from one of Alsace’s oldest and most trusted names. With a winemaking lineage dating back to 1639, Famille Hugel consistently delivers purity, drinkability, and quiet precision. This 2023 release—a 50/50 blend of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois—is drawn from hand-harvested fruit across limestone-rich sites around Riquewihr. It's dry, unoaked, and effortlessly versatile.
2023 was a dry but moderate vintage in Alsace, producing wines of clarity and tension. Fermented in temperature-controlled vats and bottled under DIAM cork to preserve its brightness, this Pinot Blanc is an ideal alternative to unoaked Chardonnay—think Macon or Petit Chablis. Expect subtle citrus, orchard fruit and a soft mineral line that makes it an easy match for white meats, seafood, or apéro hour.
Always consistent, always approachable—this is Alsace at its most quietly confident.

Hugel & Fils has been rooted in the medieval village of Riquewihr, Alsace, since 1639. Still 100% family-owned and managed by the 12th consecutive generation, the estate holds 30 hectares of prime vineyard sites—most classed as Grand Cru—and sources from a further 110 hectares under long-term contract. Vines average 35 years in age and are planted exclusively to Alsace’s noble varieties: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Pinot Blanc.
With an annual production of around 110,000 cases, Hugel wines are exported to over 100 countries, where the name has become virtually synonymous with the Alsace region. Beneath 16th-century buildings in the heart of Riquewihr, centuries-old oak casks quietly mature the wines, including the celebrated “S. Caterine” barrel of 1715—recognised by Guinness World Records as the oldest working cask in the world. Hugel is also a proud member of Primum Familiae Vini, a collective of the world’s most distinguished wine dynasties.
For the Hugel family, the craft of winemaking is inseparable from the land and climate of Alsace. As France’s second driest wine region, the area’s long, slow ripening season yields dry, aromatic wines of precision, purity, and intensity—naturally suited to both Western and Asian cuisines. Hugel’s hallmark is authenticity: no oak masking, no unnecessary sweetness, just the unadorned varietal expression of the vineyard.
Pioneers of late-harvest styles in Alsace, the family drafted the stringent laws governing Vendange Tardive and Sélection de Grains Nobles, ensuring these rare wines remain both genuine and of exceptional quality. This deep respect for tradition is matched by a quiet confidence in the future, as each generation safeguards a legacy more than 380 years in the making.
Soft apple, lemon blossom and a hint of white stone fruit.
Crisp pear, citrus and faint almond over gentle acidity and creamy texture.
Dry, mineral finish with just a touch of spice.
