The Beauty, a fitting partner to the Beast, is a wine of elegance... Grown on the coolest block on the property at Seppeltsfield vineyard on deep red clay loam. This shiraz is co-fermented with a touch of Viognier. It displays complex lifted aromatics, along with the softness and subtlety befitting a wine of this name - peach, apricot and florals provide the lift while surrounded by blue and red fruits, white pepper and peaty earth sitting further in the background. This complex combination of flavours continues onto the palate with the blue/red fruits playing the leading role. Bright acid and tannin drive provide great focus down the middle, bright fruits providing the framework. Soft, expressive and complex.

For vinification this wine is completely de-stemmed, combined with wet Viognier skins (3%). 1/3 fermented is fermented without skins in French oak and gently basket-pressed.

      Trusted by the professionals

      Hentley Farm

Hentley Farm was established in 1997 by Keith and Alison Henschke with a singular vision: to craft exceptional single-estate wines from the Barossa Valley. With an Agricultural Science and Wine Marketing degree from Roseworthy College, Keith acquired extensive industry experience before seeking the perfect site in the Barossa, guided by advice from local experts to look for “red-brown soil over limestone.”

The extreme diversity of soil, aspect, and altitude at Hentley Farm required careful planning in terms of varietal and clone selection, row spacing, trellising, and water management. The estate vineyards feature Shiraz (70%), Grenache (17%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), Zinfandel (2%), and a small parcel of Viognier (0.5%). Their first wines were released in 2002.

Since 2008, Head Winemaker Andrew Quin has overseen Hentley Farm’s evolution, focusing on crafting modern wines from traditional Barossa varieties. The wines are varietally diverse, approachable in their youth, yet structured for extended cellaring. Under Andrew’s guidance, Hentley Farm has become one of Australia’s leading boutique wineries, earning accolades worldwide, including the 2015 James Halliday Winery of the Year.

The palate is plush, vibrant and beautifully weighted. Pure fruited, dark and spicy.

Long, fleshy and layered, this has absolute power, but also supreme balance.
