Romanée St Vivant Grand Cru 2022 reveals the quiet power and precision of Pinot Noir from Domaine de la Romanée Conti. Drawn from the storied climat within Vosne Romanée in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, the wine captures the natural generosity of the 2022 season while holding its line with purity, lifted perfume and measured structure. The berries were harvested in early September at optimal ripeness, delivering fruit of clarity and concentration that translates directly into a wine of fine detail and enduring grace. It is an articulate expression of place, shaped by a season that offered ripeness without heaviness and a clear voice of terroir.
Romanée St Vivant sits on finely textured soils that lend themselves to wines of perfume and poise. The domaine farms this site with meticulous attention to vine balance and soil health, an approach that supports even ripening and nuanced flavour development. In 2022, reduced parcels and naturally low yields further tightened the focus, producing a Grand Cru of depth and seamless flow. The vineyard’s long history and sheltered position contribute a quiet internal energy, revealing layers of red berry brightness, floral lift and subtle savoury complexity.
Winemaking at the domaine emphasises restraint and fidelity to site. The fruit is handled gently to preserve aromatic complexity, allowing the wine to articulate its inherent finesse and finely woven tannin. The 2022 Romanée St Vivant shows a balance of vivid fruit, refined structure and understated power, evolving in the glass with poise. Released in limited quantities, it offers a long view of what this Grand Cru can become with time, shaped by patience, precision and an unwavering connection to its origin.

A head turning wine with lifted aromatics, silky tannins and a long, resonant finish of exceptional elegance.
Initially shy yet richly detailed with cherry, strawberry and spice, supported by impressive structure and length.
Fresh and complex with a subtle game like edge, layered berry fruit and notable grip and intensity.
Founded in 1232, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti stands as Burgundy’s most revered estate and one of the most important wine producers in the world. Its modern identity took shape in 1760, when the vineyard then known as La Romanée was acquired by Louis‑François de Bourbon, Prince of Conti, whose name it bears to this day.
Following the French Revolution, the Domaine passed through several hands before being purchased by the Duvault‑Blochet family in 1869. Under their stewardship, the estate expanded to include Échézeaux, Grands‑Échézeaux, Richebourg, and the monopole La Tâche. Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant and Montrachet followed, with Corton‑Charlemagne joining the portfolio in the 21st century.
Today, the Domaine is unique in Burgundy for producing wine almost exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. It is the largest owner of Grand Cru land in the region, and its wines consistently set benchmarks for quality, rarity, and longevity. Few names carry greater weight at global auctions, or command greater trust from collectors than DRC.
The philosophy of Domaine de la Romanée‑Conti is founded on restraint. The goal is not to shape the wine, but to allow each vineyard to speak with clarity and authority.
Farming is organic, yields are deliberately minimal, and selection is uncompromising. Pinot Noir vines are propagated from the Domaine’s own genetic material, preserving an exceptional patrimony of fine‑grained, expressive fruit. In the cellar, intervention is minimal. Fermentations are guided rather than forced, with whole‑cluster inclusion for the reds and maturation in 100 percent new oak chosen for discretion rather than dominance.
Across the range, the wines share a common thread of purity and intensity, yet each cuvée retains its own identity. Romanée‑Conti offers depth and gravitas. La Tâche is expansive and aromatic. Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant is ethereal and floral. Grands‑Échézeaux brings breadth and structure, while Échézeaux shows finesse and savoury detail. Corton‑Charlemagne adds a chiselled, mineral expression of Chardonnay to the collection.
These are wines built on patience, precision, and respect for place. Hard to find, exacting in execution, and quietly definitive.
Raspberry, blackberry, crushed iris and gentle spice with subtle notes of peat and camphor.
Red and blue berry fruit carried by smooth texture, balanced acidity and fine tannin with a light peppery thread.
Vanillin hints and delicate spice that linger with clarity and quiet persistence.
