A benchmark Australian Cabernet that channels purity, finesse and place.
The 2023 Cullen Diana Madeline is a masterclass in biodynamic precision and elegance, drawn entirely from the Cullen Vineyard’s 52-year-old dry-grown vines in Wilyabrup. Named for co-founder Diana Madeline Cullen, this wine is one of Australia’s most iconic Cabernet blends—crafted without additions, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged for 14 months in French oak (40% new). The final blend includes 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot, and small portions of Malbec and Petit Verdot.
The 2023 vintage brought low yields, tiny berries and exceptional ripeness—resulting in a wine of intense concentration, but also energy and lift. There’s a soaring perfume of rose petal, violet, black cherry and graphite. The palate is seamless and structured, with notes of cassis, dark chocolate, cedar and spice wrapped in fine tannins. It’s a wine that wears its power with grace, offering poise now but destined to evolve beautifully for decades.
Described by critics as one of the finest Diana Madelines ever made, this is a wine of vitality, precision, and quiet force. A true statement from Margaret River’s biodynamic pioneer.
