Picpoul is a great alternative to crisp, dry whites such as Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling without the overwhelming pungency Sauvignon or the piercing acidity or Riesling. The nose is clean and remarkably understated. This is partially due to time spent fermenting in stainless steel but the Picpoul grape is not an overly exuberant type by nature. Aromas of citrus, green apple jelly, and a very careful salty touch. Tight attack with a crisp, fresh and clean mouthfeel. Limited acidity, yet an invigorating effect.
Wonderfully pure and full of juice. This is the perfect drink for washing down oysters. Delicious.
