Product Description:
A poised and mineral expression of Tasmanian Chardonnay. The 2024 Clarence House Estate Chardonnay comes from a single block on the historic Clarence House property, first established in 1830 on land once used to supply produce to Hobart’s early markets. Its vineyard, planted in 1998 on the north-eastern slopes of the Meehan Ranges, draws on Jurassic dolerite and basalt soils that deliver natural structure and fine acidity.
This vintage reflects both precision and quiet power. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeasts in a mix of French oak puncheons and stainless steel, creating a wine that balances texture and freshness. Subtle oak influence frames layers of citrus, stone fruit, and almond meal, with a faint struck-match edge adding depth. The result is an elegant, cool-climate Chardonnay that carries richness without weight and finishes long and mineral.
Clarence House has built a reputation for producing finely structured, expressive wines that speak clearly of their Tasmanian origin. The 2024 Chardonnay continues that tradition, offering clarity, energy, and the promise of graceful development in bottle over the coming years.
