The 2024 Bubb + Pooley Pinot Noir in magnum is a fresh chapter in Tasmanian Pinot, shaped by two of the state’s most experienced winemakers. Crafted by Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley, the wine draws from carefully chosen sites across the Coal River Valley, a cool-climate region known for producing Pinot Noir of clarity and drive. The soils here, a mix of alluvial deposits, sandstone and clay, deliver fruit with both brightness and structure, perfectly suited to the pair’s hands-off, terroir-focused style.

Fermented and raised in concrete, the wine carries a textural, seamless flow that reflects Bubb + Pooley’s philosophy: to make wines that are raw, expressive and true to their origins. The magnum format lends added poise and ageing potential, with the Pinot’s layered fruit, fine tannins and natural freshness promising graceful development over time. This release captures both the energy of Tasmania’s landscape and the quiet assurance of two winemakers at the height of their craft.

      Bubb + Pooley

Bubb + Pooley was founded in 2021 by Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley, two Tasmanian winemakers with more than two decades of international and local experience each. Anna studied at the University of Adelaide before shaping her craft with respected producers in South Australia, Austria and Tuscany, later returning to Tasmania where she held senior winemaking roles. Justin’s path has been equally global, with formative years spent in Italy and extensive work across Australian regions.

In 2022 they secured their own vineyard at Campania in the Coal River Valley, with mature Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet vines first planted in 2000. Alongside their estate, they draw on trusted vineyard partners across Tasmania, selecting parcels that best reflect site and season. In the winery they favour restrained use of oak, indigenous fermentations and concrete vessels, a measured approach that highlights precision and texture while keeping the focus firmly on fruit and place.
