An original vintage shaped by contrast and restraint. B16 is Bollinger’s singular expression of the 2016 vintage, a year defined by extremes and resolved through precision. Drawn exclusively from late ripening Grand and Premier Cru sites in the Montagne de Reims, the blend is led by 73 percent Pinot Noir and supported by 27 percent Chardonnay, capturing a poised balance between depth, clarity and finesse.

A cold, wet spring and damaging frosts gave way to a hot, dry late summer, concentrating flavour while significantly reducing yields. Bollinger responded by focusing on its most structured Pinot Noir terroirs, bringing definition and drive, while Chardonnay contributes lift and detail. Fermentation in oak barrels and more than seven years on lees build texture and complexity, while the low extra brut dosage of 4 g/L preserves transparency and precision.

B16 steps away from the Maison’s more muscular cuvées, leaning instead into purity and linear elegance. The distinctive black and white bottle reflects the vintage’s contrasts, presenting a Champagne that is finely etched, textural and composed. It pairs naturally with dishes of clean lines and gentle richness, from oysters and scallops to lightly poached seafood.

      Trusted by the professionals

“A sophisticated champagne with extremely refined character and linear phenolics that give it length and class. It's medium-bodied with grapefruit and apples as well as pie crust. Bright acidity at the end.”

      — James Suckling, 96 points

“Supple and already blooming, with a spicy and lush nose from oak and a salty tang.” - Essi Avellan MW, 94–96 points “Lively and more floral than many a Bollinger champagne, almost transparent and filigree with marked but not excessive acidity.”

      — Jancis Robinson MW, 17.5/20

      Bollinger

Maison Bollinger, established in 1829, is one of the most revered names in the world of Champagne. Located in Aÿ, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, Bollinger has a rich history of producing exceptional, full-bodied champagnes known for their depth, complexity, and consistency. The estate is still family-owned and operated, and its reputation for producing premium cuvées is built on a commitment to quality and a passion for craftsmanship.

The Bollinger style is inimitable and recognised as such by great connoisseurs. It possesses a dense and subtle presence: a balance of the intensity of great Pinot Noirs and the freshness of Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs. The house’s offerings are rooted in 5 tangible principles: the vineyards; Pinot Noir; magnums of reserve wines; the barrels, and time. Bollinger wines release a creamy effervescence resulting from vinifying in oak barrels and prolonged contact with the yeasts. Every tasting yields new delights that are guaranteed to transport you.
