The 2024 Bannockburn Riesling is a stunning representation of Hunter Valley terroir, crafted from one of the region’s most iconic vineyard sites – Olive Tree Hill. This single-vineyard wine, sourced predominantly from the estate’s original 1976 plantings, offers a pure and expressive character, showcasing the complexities of the limestone-rich soils at the top of the north-facing slope. The cooler conditions of the site provide a perfect environment for producing Riesling with bright acidity, freshness, and the potential for impressive longevity.

Handpicked and gently whole-bunch pressed, the 2024 vintage was fermented in stainless steel to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine was then matured on its lees for three months, enhancing texture and complexity. The result is a Riesling that balances vibrant citrus and floral aromas with a crisp, mouthwatering finish. With its impeccable tension and minerality, this wine will continue to evolve beautifully in the bottle, developing further depth and richness over the years.

    Farming Practices – Organic (non-certified)
    Drink Window – 2025-2035
Food Pairings – This wine is a perfect match for fresh seafood, particularly oysters, grilled fish, and sashimi. It also pairs wonderfully with Asian-inspired dishes such as Thai green curry, or light poultry dishes. A great complement to goat cheese or fresh salads with citrus dressing.

Made mainly from 0.4ha of vines planted in 1976. A pure and quite lovely nose featuring scents of Meyer lemon, makrut lime leaves and floral notes. The palate is linear, chalky and long with the fruit and acidity in perfect harmony. I'm thinking san choy bow would be a great match. I'm guessing it'll age superbly, too.

Lifted, fresh and floral notes of lemon sherbet, orange blossoms and candied lime zest. The palate is light-bodied with piercing acidity and a generous mouthfeel that will open up in time, giving notes of flint, crushed river stones and grapefruit. Very tightly bound. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

As far as I know this doesn’t see oak but it still feels noticeably textural. It’s cut with citrussy flavours but the main characters here are steel and tonic. It’s dry, almost gravelly, almost stony, with a herbs-dipped-in-woodsmoke-and-brine side. This too would be fabulous to dine with.

    Tasting notes

    NOSE
    Citrus, Lemongrass, White Flowers

A brilliant bouquet of fresh citrus notes, including Meyer lemon and Makrut lime leaves, alongside delicate floral aromas. The inviting nose is lifted by subtle hints of lemongrass and a touch of minerality, evoking the unique limestone soils of the estate.

    PALATE
    Tight, Flinty, Green Apple

Linear and focused, with a vibrant freshness that is characteristic of this site. Crisp green apple and grapefruit flavours are balanced by a pronounced minerality, with notes of flint and crushed river stones adding texture. A slight herbal undertone complements the wine’s purity, while the freshness and acidity create a mouthwatering, refreshing quality that carries through to the finish.

    FINISH
    Chalky, Long Finish

Long and clean, with a chalky mineral quality that lingers on the palate. The wine’s mouthwatering acidity and persistent citrus notes provide excellent balance, while the subtle saltiness adds complexity and makes for an intriguing, refreshing conclusion. This is a Riesling with great potential for aging, and will evolve beautifully with time in the bottle.
