Allegrini Corte Giara Ripasso Valpolicella La Groletta 2016

Allegrini is considered one of the symbolic producers of Valpolicella Classica and has always been recognized as one of the most important and significant Italian wineries. Owned by the Allegrini family since the sixteenth century, today it can count on over one hundred hectares of vineyards in the historic areas of the appellation. Attentive to innovation and respect for the environment, they aim to achieve full sustainability and organic certification. In the winery, over the years, there have been many innovations and improvements, starting with the use of barriques to reduce the period of aging so as not to distort the varietal imprint of the grapes.

La Groletta 2016 Ripasso Valpolicella is made from the traditional Corvina and Rondinella grapes to make Valpolicella and these are partially dried before fermentation to add more structure, flavour and potential alcohol to the wine.

It is no coincidence that many refer to Ripasso della Valpolicella with the nickname "baby Amarone". After all, this Veronese wine perfectly represents a middle ground between the fresh and crisp Valpolicella base and the opulent Amarone which, thanks to the long drying of its grapes before vinification, brings aromas and flavours to the glass that are difficult to achieve with other wines. This Ripasso Doc produced by the Allegrini winery is a perfect example of balance. The result of a blend of 70% Corvina veronese and 30% Rondinella grapes, this Ripasso is able to satisfy anyone looking for a smooth but pleasantly approachable wine. Ruby red in colour with good intensity, this red has the scents of sweet and pulpy red fruit, with notes of sweet spices and herbs. On the palate it is full and dry. Full-bodied, it is soft but equally agile on the palate.
