Te Kairanga Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Te Kairanga have 105 hectares of vines planted at four vineyard sites in the Martinborough appellation. This diversity provides our winemaking team with a wide array of aromatics, flavours, textures and styles to work with. The Martinborough Terrace, considered one of the premier growing areas, is home to our Home and McLeod Vineyards. Once an ancient riverbed, it features deep gravel and alluvial soils and a mild climate. At slightly higher elevations with more extreme conditions are our Spring Rock and Rua vineyards. All of our properties are sustainably farmed.
Under the direction of Chief Winemaker, John Kavanagh, Te Kairanga's winemaking philosophy places a premium on the character of each vineyard. This Sauvignon Blanc is made from individual vineyard parcels, gently pressed on arrival and cool fermented in stainless steel to maintain its clean, fresh flavour. The grapes are harvested block by block at optimum ripeness and fermented individually. Partial barrel fermentation in seasoned French oak puncheons was used to add complexity and texture. Gentle handling ensures the expression of our special place. Balanced oak treatment and minimal fining and filtration help preserve both varietal character and the inimitable personality of the terroir.
The 2023 vintage of Te Kairanga Sauvignon Blanc is full of tropical fruits and fragrant fresh herb aromatics. The palate has a beautiful balance between texture and flavour. A classic Martinborough wine with refreshing and vibrant characteristics. Pair this with an asparagus quiche or an herb crusted snapper for a favourable match.
