The 2022 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Hommage à Marguerite 1.5L is a wine that combines elegance, complexity, and a nod to history. This cuvée is a blend of Premier Crus from four exceptional sites in Saint-Aubin: Perrières, Combes, Créots, and Pitangerets, all pressed and vinified together. These vineyards span various exposures, lending the wine a delightful balance between richness and precision. The result is a wine with opulence, offering aromas of white flowers, crisp green apple, cereal notes, and the enticing sweetness of praline. On the palate, the wine is peachy, with a slightly creamier texture than other offerings from PYCM's Saint-Aubin wines, creating a smooth, refined finish that lingers beautifully.

This cuvée holds sentimental value for the family, created in 2016 in response to the frost that affected the region and named in honour of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s late grandmother, Marguerite. As with all PYCM white wines, the fruit is whole-bunch pressed and fermented with natural yeasts. The wine is aged on lees for up to 18 months in 350-litre barrels, with no lees stirring or filtration, ensuring that it retains purity and complexity while showcasing the full expression of its terroir.

    Farming Practices – Organic (non-certified)
    Drink Window – 2026-2032
Food Pairing – Excellent with shellfish, white meats, and dishes with a creamy sauce, or simply enjoyed on its own.

The 2022 Saint-Aubin Hommage à Marguerite 1er Cru blends Perrière, Créots, Les Combes and Pitangerets (part of Les Combes). The wonderful bouquet offers scents of peach skin, chai and a brush of chalk dust, very enticing even at this early stage. The palate is very well-balanced with a little more tension than the regular Saint-Aubin, a slightly flinty finish completing this very able wine.

    — Wine Advocate, 90-92 Points

Opening in the glass with aromas of white flowers, pear, crisp green apple, oatmeal and praline, the 2022 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Hommage à Marguerite is medium to full-bodied, with a satiny attack that segues into a fleshy core of fruit framed by chalky dry extract.

    — Jasper Morris, 89-91 Points

50% is from Les Combes with the rest from En Créots and Les Perrières. Here the airy white fleshed fruit nose flirts with reduction so be sure to allow for a few minutes of aeration if you plan to crack a bottle young. More interesting are the bigger-bodied and richer, though not necessarily more mineral-driven, flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale where a discreet touch of youthful austerity slowly emerges.

    Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Established as one of the young rising stars of Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey in 2005 left his family Domaine, Marc Colin, where he gained a solid reputation for his outstanding white wines. Pierre-Yves took control of a share of the family vineyards (Domaine Marc Colin) from 2006 vintage. His first vintages have been made from vineyards and growers that he works closely with buying the wine as must and aging the wines in barrels which he has supplied. If the resulting wines meet his standards the barrels of wine purchased are then matured in his own cold cellar below his house in Chassagne Montrachet.

“This is not just one of the top domaines in the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is now well recognised as one of the greatest winemakers and domaines in the world. Consistently producing benchmark wines in each vintage.”

The Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate was born in 2001 from the association of Pierre-Yves Colin (son of Marc) and Caroline Morey (daughter of Jean-Marc). Today they operate 13 hectares in the villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Their production consists of 92% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir and 3% of Aligoté grape variety. Working about 2 hectares from the family heritage, the other plots have come from different acquisitions over the last fifteen years, as well as a few plots in Fermages.
