Grands Échézeaux Grand Cru 2022 channels the depth and precision of Pinot Noir from Domaine de la Romanée Conti. Drawn from the revered Grands Échézeaux vineyard in Flagey Échézeaux in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, the wine reflects a season that delivered natural richness with firm structural definition. The fruit was harvested in early September at ideal ripeness, producing berries of concentration and clarity that shape a wine of gravitas and quiet intensity. It is an expression that feels anchored in its site, muscular in profile yet balanced by purity, freshness and a composed sense of power.
The vineyard sits on deeper, denser soils than neighbouring Échézeaux, lending the wine a darker fruit spectrum and a more vertical, brooding architecture. Domaine de la Romanée Conti farms this parcel with focus on vine balance and soil vitality, ensuring measured yields and precise ripeness. In 2022, the site voiced its character with dark berry depth, fine savoury detail and a firmly coiled structure that will open gradually with time. Its density is matched by a velvety texture, revealing refinement within its muscular frame.
Winemaking at the domaine respects the natural shape of the fruit. Gentle handling preserves aromatic integrity, allowing the wine to articulate complex layers of dark fruit, spice and mineral nuance. The 2022 Grands Échézeaux carries its concentration with composure, closing on a long, contemplative finish. Released in limited quantities, it is a Grand Cru built for extended ageing, shaped by patience, precision and an enduring connection to its origin.

Concentrated with firm tannic backbone and great length. Restrained at first yet revealing depth and power with time.
Generous and succulent with cherry, raspberry and blood orange, finishing with substantial tannins.
Powerful structure with an explosive vertical feel. Dark red fruit, licorice and dried herbs emerging over time.
Founded in 1232, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti stands as Burgundy’s most revered estate and one of the most important wine producers in the world. Its modern identity took shape in 1760, when the vineyard then known as La Romanée was acquired by Louis‑François de Bourbon, Prince of Conti, whose name it bears to this day.
Following the French Revolution, the Domaine passed through several hands before being purchased by the Duvault‑Blochet family in 1869. Under their stewardship, the estate expanded to include Échézeaux, Grands‑Échézeaux, Richebourg, and the monopole La Tâche. Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant and Montrachet followed, with Corton‑Charlemagne joining the portfolio in the 21st century.
Today, the Domaine is unique in Burgundy for producing wine almost exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. It is the largest owner of Grand Cru land in the region, and its wines consistently set benchmarks for quality, rarity, and longevity. Few names carry greater weight at global auctions, or command greater trust from collectors than DRC.
The philosophy of Domaine de la Romanée‑Conti is founded on restraint. The goal is not to shape the wine, but to allow each vineyard to speak with clarity and authority.
Farming is organic, yields are deliberately minimal, and selection is uncompromising. Pinot Noir vines are propagated from the Domaine’s own genetic material, preserving an exceptional patrimony of fine‑grained, expressive fruit. In the cellar, intervention is minimal. Fermentations are guided rather than forced, with whole‑cluster inclusion for the reds and maturation in 100 percent new oak chosen for discretion rather than dominance.
Across the range, the wines share a common thread of purity and intensity, yet each cuvée retains its own identity. Romanée‑Conti offers depth and gravitas. La Tâche is expansive and aromatic. Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant is ethereal and floral. Grands‑Échézeaux brings breadth and structure, while Échézeaux shows finesse and savoury detail. Corton‑Charlemagne adds a chiselled, mineral expression of Chardonnay to the collection.
These are wines built on patience, precision, and respect for place. Hard to find, exacting in execution, and quietly definitive.
Blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry with hints of licorice, incense and earthy spice.
Layered dark fruit supported by firm tannins and a tightly focused structure with a subtle herbal thread.
Long, smoky mineral accents with lingering dark fruit and a touch of menthol.
