Échézeaux Grand Cru 2022 reflects the lifted, supple expression of Pinot Noir from Domaine de la Romanée Conti. Sourced from the domaine’s parcels within Échézeaux in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, the wine captures the clarity and natural brightness that the 2022 season allowed. Fruit harvested in mid September showed ripeness without heaviness, giving a wine that speaks in red toned aromatics, fine tannin and quiet precision. It is an articulate and inviting expression of its terroir, carrying freshness and detail while retaining the depth expected of a Grand Cru.
The vineyard, centred on the historic lieu dit Les Poulaillères, sits on lighter soils that lend themselves to a more expressive and graceful style. Domaine de la Romanée Conti farms this site with close attention to vine balance, encouraging even ripening and measured yields. In 2022 the fruit showed particular purity, opening with red and dark berry tones, floral lift and subtle spice. The palate follows with medium weight and polished texture, guided by bright acidity and a gentle, succulently framed core of fruit.
Winemaking at the domaine is defined by restraint, allowing the vineyard to lead. Gentle handling preserves aromatic complexity and structural finesse, resulting in a wine that builds with quiet confidence rather than force. The 2022 Échézeaux closes on a fresh, mineral tinged finish that lingers with poise. Released in limited quantities, it balances immediacy with long term potential, offering charm in youth and the structure to evolve gracefully.

Absolutely exquisite with impossibly silky tannins and deep, penetrating aromatics.
Exuberant and expressive with red and black fruits, supple texture and lovely sucrosité.
Sweet dark berries and cherries with incense, orange zest and spice, broad and sapid on the finish.
Founded in 1232, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti stands as Burgundy’s most revered estate and one of the most important wine producers in the world. Its modern identity took shape in 1760, when the vineyard then known as La Romanée was acquired by Louis‑François de Bourbon, Prince of Conti, whose name it bears to this day.
Following the French Revolution, the Domaine passed through several hands before being purchased by the Duvault‑Blochet family in 1869. Under their stewardship, the estate expanded to include Échézeaux, Grands‑Échézeaux, Richebourg, and the monopole La Tâche. Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant and Montrachet followed, with Corton‑Charlemagne joining the portfolio in the 21st century.
Today, the Domaine is unique in Burgundy for producing wine almost exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. It is the largest owner of Grand Cru land in the region, and its wines consistently set benchmarks for quality, rarity, and longevity. Few names carry greater weight at global auctions, or command greater trust from collectors than DRC.
The philosophy of Domaine de la Romanée‑Conti is founded on restraint. The goal is not to shape the wine, but to allow each vineyard to speak with clarity and authority.
Farming is organic, yields are deliberately minimal, and selection is uncompromising. Pinot Noir vines are propagated from the Domaine’s own genetic material, preserving an exceptional patrimony of fine‑grained, expressive fruit. In the cellar, intervention is minimal. Fermentations are guided rather than forced, with whole‑cluster inclusion for the reds and maturation in 100 percent new oak chosen for discretion rather than dominance.
Across the range, the wines share a common thread of purity and intensity, yet each cuvée retains its own identity. Romanée‑Conti offers depth and gravitas. La Tâche is expansive and aromatic. Romanée‑Saint‑Vivant is ethereal and floral. Grands‑Échézeaux brings breadth and structure, while Échézeaux shows finesse and savoury detail. Corton‑Charlemagne adds a chiselled, mineral expression of Chardonnay to the collection.
These are wines built on patience, precision, and respect for place. Hard to find, exacting in execution, and quietly definitive.
Red and dark berries with violet, light spice and hints of earth and underbrush.
Medium bodied with silky tannins, succulent red fruit and balanced acidity.
Lingering fruit and spice with a subtle saline or mineral lift.
