Purity, freshness and fine mineral definition shape Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Blanc de Blancs, an Extra Brut Champagne presented in a refined gift box. Created entirely from Chardonnay, the cuvée draws fruit from ten carefully selected crus across the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims and Sézannais. The blend incorporates approximately 30% reserve wines, bringing depth and consistency while preserving the grape variety’s naturally vibrant character. These reserve wines are selected from a collection of more than 150 wines maintained separately by cru and aged on their fine lees. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, helping retain clarity, freshness and precise varietal expression. Malolactic fermentation is predominantly employed but is determined individually by the Chief Winemaker according to the character of each wine. The Champagne spends a minimum of 36 months ageing on its lees, followed by at least six months of maturation after disgorgement. Its Extra Brut dosage of 5g/L maintains a distinctly dry profile and allows its citrus, chalk and saline qualities to remain clearly defined.

The bouquet opens with white flowers, lemon and lime, developing additional notes of orange blossom, almond and toasted bread. On the palate, vibrant citrus fruit is supported by a refined chalky texture and a subtle touch of acacia honey. Extended lees ageing contributes smoothness and creaminess without diminishing the Champagne’s energetic structure. The finish is pure, mineral and saline, reinforcing the wine’s precise Blanc de Blancs identity. Its combination of freshness and textural depth makes it particularly well suited to oysters, seafood, ceviche and delicately prepared fish dishes. The House recommends serving it between 10°C and 12°C to reveal its aromatic detail and finely balanced structure. Presented in an elegant gift box, it offers a polished choice for gifting while retaining the gastronomic credentials associated with Piper-Heidsieck’s Essentiel collection.

“This Champagne has had some bottle aging, giving softness and a yeasty brioche character. That aspect mingles with the wine's perfumed minerality and citrus flavors. Drink this fine wine now.”

“Beautifully refine nose of crystalline of citrus fruits with fine hazelnut and sun baked bread. In the mouth this has expressive lemon and pear fruit with delicate pastry detail. Complete.”

      Piper Heidsieck

Piper-Heidsieck's roots trace back to Florens-Louis Heidsieck, who created the original company of Heidsieck & Co to pursue his ambition of “creating a cuvée worthy of a queen”. He fulfilled his dream perhaps earlier than anyone could have expected: once Marie Antoinette had tasted his creation, she became the first Heidsieck & Co ambassador. Florens-Louis’ nephew, Christian Heidsieck joined the venture alongside Guillaume Piper and once Florens-Louis died in 1828, the duo decided to continue the adventure side by side, founding Champagne Piper-Heidsieck.

In 2011 both Charles Heidsieck and Piper-Heidsieck were bought by EPI Group headed by Christopher Descours, he has pumped significant finance into the companies allowing them to grow their vineyard holdings, grape purchasing and production. The brands are now growing their sales fast after many decades of decline. Today, production occurs alongside sister company Charles Heidsieck in an ultra-modern functional wine-making facility on the southern outskirts of Reims.
