Traditional craftsmanship and Barossa heritage define this iconic release from Rockford Wines. The Basket Press Shiraz 2011 is produced in Barossa Valley using time-honoured methods, including open fermentation and gentle extraction in a basket press, followed by maturation in seasoned oak. Sourced from a selection of old-vine vineyards across the Barossa, the wine reflects both regional richness and a commitment to balance rather than excess. The 2011 vintage, shaped by cooler and more challenging conditions, delivers a more restrained and savoury expression compared to warmer years.
In the glass, the wine shows depth without heaviness, offering a composed and layered profile. Dark fruit is present but moderated, allowing spice, earth, and subtle herbal notes to come forward. The tannins are firm yet fine, providing structure while maintaining approachability. Oak influence is seamlessly integrated, supporting the fruit without dominating it. There is a quiet elegance to this vintage, with freshness and savoury complexity taking precedence over power. This is a wine that rewards both patience and thoughtful pairing, working beautifully with slow-cooked meats, roasted lamb, or earthy vegetable dishes.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2011 Basket Press Shiraz has a spicy nose with notes of black pepper, cloves and cinnamon over a core of blackberries and mulberries with touches of dried herbs and earth. Medium-bodied, the palate gives plenty of juicy berry flavors with a good backbone of acid and medium level of grainy tannins, finishing long and peppery.
