Nanny Goat Super Nanny Pinot Noir 2020

Nanny Goat is a Central Otago winery specialising in Pinot Noir. Its name derives from the fact that much of the country is rough, dry, mountainous and desolate – seemingly suitable only for goats. Apparently, the brand’s owner, Aussie John Valmorbida, was climbing up to a hilltop restaurant near Queenstown when the goat idea struck him. It is rather appropriate.

Big, bold and full of all the black fruits, namely cherries, the Super Nanny is tempered with subtle notes of leather, spice and oak. Fine tannins and juicy acidity join forces to give it a long, clean finish. Super Nanny loves gamey red meats, so try it with duck or venison in particular.

Attractive, fruit-focused pinot noir with floral, violet, dark cherry, berry and spicy oak flavours. A deliciously accessible wine, with a supple core of juicy fruit flavours balanced by fine, sweet tannins. Very appealing. - Bob campbell, The Real Review, 94 Points
