Originally introduced in 1985, this much-admired age statement returns to the distillery's core range in 2026 following a decade-long absence, offering an elegant yet unmistakably powerful interpretation of Laphroaig's signature character. Matured for 15 years in American oak bourbon barrels, the whisky develops additional richness, rounded texture and aromatic complexity while retaining the distinctive maritime influence that defines the distillery. Fresh citrus, orange zest and grapefruit open the bouquet, complemented by dried hay, delicate vanilla, subtle clove and the familiar presence of peat smoke. The result is a beautifully layered single malt that brings together the rugged intensity of Islay with the refinement and depth achieved through extended maturation.

The whisky's character begins with malted barley dried using peat smoke, a defining element of Laphroaig's traditional production methods that contributes its distinctive smoky and coastal personality. Ageing in first-fill and second-fill bourbon barrels allows the spirit to develop greater harmony, integrating American oak sweetness with the distillery's characteristic medicinal peat, sea salt and warming spice. Bottled at 46% ABV, this expression offers an assertive yet rounded drinking experience, with smoke and coastal salinity leading into cracked black pepper, vanilla and subtle sweetness. Its fuller texture and carefully balanced flavours demonstrate how prolonged maturation can soften the sharper edges of youthful peat without diminishing the whisky's remarkable intensity. The finish is long, smoky and satisfying, with lingering savoury character, maritime freshness and a delicate sweetness that makes this an exceptional choice for enthusiasts of mature Islay single malt Scotch whisky.

Tasting Notes
NOSE
– Fresh, citrus-driven and gently smoky
Bright orange zest, grapefruit, dried hay, soft vanilla and delicate clove layered with subtle peat smoke and coastal freshness.

PALATE
– Full-bodied, smoky and beautifully rounded
Rich peat smoke and sea salt complemented by cracked black pepper, warming spice, gentle oak sweetness and a fuller, rounded texture.

FINISH
– Long, smoky and elegantly balanced
Lingering savoury peat, maritime salinity, warming spice and a clean edge of sweetness with remarkable persistence.

Finer Details:
Brand - Laphroaig
Style - Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Country - Scotland
Region - Islay
ABV - 46%
Size - 700ml
Age Statement - 15 Year Old
Cask Strength - No
Peat Level - Heavily Peated
Batch / Barrel Detail - Matured in first-fill and second-fill ex-bourbon barrels

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0043/9258/3217/files/2fb9b01f-9bfc-48c2-98a7-e037ea8a1c5e.webp?v=1793318228
