Batch 5 is produced from the distillery’s established mash bill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. Following distillation in Lynchburg, the spirit is mellowed drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal in accordance with the distillery’s signature process. It is then matured for a full decade in new American white oak barrels, allowing seasonal temperature changes and varying conditions within the rickhouses to deepen its interaction with the wood. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBottled at 97 proof, or 48.5% ABV, Batch 5 combines mature oak structure with the familiar fruit, caramel and spice characteristics associated with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. Aromas of cooked apple and caramel are layered with soft oak, leading into a palate of rich molasses, chocolate and barrel spices. The additional maturation contributes greater concentration, complexity and layers of oak, char and warming spice. Its finish is exceptionally long and warm, allowing the darker sweetness and seasoned barrel character to linger. Released in limited quantities in a 700ml bottle, Batch 5 is available in the United States and selected international markets.
