The 2024 blend comprises 60% Grenache and 40% Mataro from vines recognised under the Barossa Old Vine Charter as at least 35 years old. These gnarled bush and trellised vines grow across soils ranging from friable clay loam with limestone fragments to deep sandy loam over clay. The resulting wine captures the perfume, vibrant red fruit and supple structure associated with old-vine Grenache, strengthened by the darker fruit and savoury framework of Mataro.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGrenache and Mataro were harvested separately between late February and early April and vinified individually using traditional techniques before maturation. Each component spent 10 months in oak hogsheads, with only 3% new oak and 97% seasoned oak, allowing the fruit and vineyard character to remain at the forefront. The 2024 vintage delivers perfumed raspberry, black cherry and fresh plum aromas layered with violet, bergamot, nutmeg, oregano, lavender, liquorice and cedar. The palate is rich and plush, combining redcurrant, pomegranate and rhubarb with darker herbal notes, lively acidity and supple fine-grained tannins.
