The site sits at approximately 240 metres elevation, with Pinot Noir planted across opposing slopes near the beginning of Lone Star Creek. MV6 occupies the north-facing slope, while clone 115 and G-clone grow on the opposite side, giving the vineyard valuable clonal and site diversity. Primavera has traditionally produced one of Giant Steps’ most floral, fragrant and red-fruited expressions of Pinot Noir, with a naturally supple texture. The 2025 season brought greater concentration and weight while maintaining the vineyard’s characteristic aromatic lift.

Fruit was hand-picked, with each clone fermented and matured separately in a combination of small oak fermenters and stainless-steel open vats. Clone 115 was fermented with 100% whole bunches, while MV6 and G-clone were fully destemmed, with the destemmed parcels receiving a four-day cold soak before fermentation. Ferments remained on skins for around 18 days, with gentle gravity-assisted cap management helping preserve perfume and finesse. The resulting wine shows damson plum, dark raspberry, red cherry, violets and spice over a concentrated yet polished palate. Persistent, textured tannins give the wine impressive length and ageing potential while retaining the silky, fragrant character associated with Primavera.

Tasting Notes
NOSE
– Floral, fragrant and deeply expressive
Damson plum, dark raspberry and red cherry with crushed violets, florals, star anise, peppercorn and subtle savoury spice.

PALATE
– Concentrated, succulent and refined
Pure red and dark fruit is carried by fresh acidity and persistent, finely textured tannins, with plum, raspberry and spice adding depth to the silky palate.

FINISH
– Long, structured and perfumed
Red fruit, florals and spice linger over finely woven tannins, finishing bright, balanced and impressively persistent.

Reviews & Accolades
"From Lou Primavera's '01-planted vineyard at 300m on red volcanic soils in Woori Yallock. A deep, bright crimson. A more concentrated and brooding Primavera. Aromas of damson plum, dark raspberry, lightly crushed violets and star anise. It's concentrated on the palate, too, with persistent and textured tannins that'll ensure this ages slowly and gracefully over a decade or more. Different from but equally as good as the Bastard Hill, which shares the same soil but is at higher elevation." — Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion, 97+ Points

“What a beautiful wine. The word immaculate springs to mind. Plums, spices, florals, red cherries and peppercorns. A general succulence. A velvety veneer. Impeccable freshness. Settled, and balanced, but bright. It’s all positives here, start to finish, but it’s more than that. It’s a top flight producer turning out top flight wine. Every sip oozes confidence, class, climate and site. This is all perfume, brightness and give, within a structure, elongated context."— Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, 95 Points

Finer Details:
Brand - Giant Steps
Style - Red Wine
Varietal - Pinot Noir
Country - Australia
State - Victoria
Region - Yarra Valley
Vintage - 2025
ABV - 14.0%
Size - 750ml

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0043/9258/3217/files/ff4f9459-304b-4116-ac2c-3dd2ffe9cc49.webp?v=1791331125
