The Merlot contributes rich and jammy, blackcurrant notes accented with watermelon aromas from the Malbec. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the varietal mix with heaped dollops of blueberry and red currants. As the wine begins to relax in the glass, the textural; charry and chocolatey notes begin to materialise. Carrying over from the nose the blueberries and red currants are immediately apparent. The firm tannin structure is accented nicely by the generosity contributed by the medium-full body of the mid-palate. The acidity has a gentle linearity which pairs nicely with the texture derived from the French Oak. The vibrancy and liveliness of the fruit weight makes this wine very appealing and should be enjoyed while in its youth. The Amy’s was made in a youthful fruit-forward style that is very approachable as a young wine. The maximum temperature reached was 34ºC and after the completion of fermentation the tubs were sealed down for a 7-day post fermentation maceration. The tubs of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were separately tipped into a small airbag press and pressed straight to French oak barriques, 50% of which were new and the balance one use.
