Founded in 1729, it holds the distinction of being the very first Champagne House, a visionary endeavour inspired by the foresight of a monk who possessed a remarkable intuition far beyond his era.

In the heart of the Champagne region, specifically in Reims, a significant moment unfolded on September 1st, 1729. It was then that Nicolas Ruinart, driven by the profound influence of his visionary monk uncle, drafted the historic charter that marked the birth of Maison Ruinart, forever etching its name as the world's pioneer in champagne production. Little did they know that this bold initiative would pave the way for an enduring enterprise that thrives and prospers even after nearly three centuries, leaving an indelible mark on the course of history.

During the remarkable period of the mid-18th century, Ruinart made a significant acquisition to enhance its champagne production. The House secured ownership of ancient crayères, subterranean chalk quarries meticulously carved beneath the historic city of Reims. These extraordinary caverns served as the ideal sanctuary for storing their precious bottles, ensuring optimal aging and maturation. Building upon its reputation for innovation, Ruinart continued to push boundaries. In 1764, the House achieved yet another milestone by successfully shipping the first-ever Rosé champagne across the vast expanse of Europe. In 1829, Athanase de Villermont’s vast estate just outside the town of Äy provided the backdrop for the founding of an extraordinary Champagne house - but as an aristocrat, Athanese was forbidden from engaging in commercial trade. With the recruitment of Joseph “Jacques” Bollinger, a Champagne merchant, and Paul Renaudin, a Champernois fascinated by the world of wine, the Bollinger legacy began.

The Bollinger style is inimitable and recognised as such by great connoisseurs. It possesses a dense and subtle presence: a balance of the intensity of great Pinot Noirs and the freshness of Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs. The house’s offerings are rooted in 5 tangible principles: the vineyards; Pinot Noir; magnums of reserve wines; the barrels, and time. Bollinger wines release a creamy effervescence resulting from vinifying in oak barrels and prolonged contact with the yeasts. Every tasting yields new delights that are guaranteed to transport you.

The Vineyard:
Bollinger has built its vineyards at the heart of the finest crus in Champagne. 180 hectares of vines are made up of 85% Grand and Premier crus and are farmed by our teams of growers across 7 separate vineyards: Aÿ, Avenay, Tauxières, Louvois and Verzenay for Pinot Noir; the Montagne de Reims, Cuis for Chardonnay; and the Côte des Blancs and Champvoisy for Meunier.

Another of Bollinger’s distinctive features are the two plots of Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres. There, ungrafted vines are entirely tended by hand and reproduced using a form of layering called provignage, preserving the extraordinary heritage from which the Vieilles Vignes Françaises cuvée is produced.

Pinot Noir is the varietal on which Bollinger has staked its reputation. A demanding grape that requires care at every step, it remains front and centre because of the incomparable finesse it brings to a wine. Today, the Pinot Noir planted around the Montagne de Reims represents over 60% of the Bollinger vineyards. This also just happens to be the exact proportion it occupies in Special Cuvée! Multi-faceted and surprising, its unusually high ratio in the blends is a signature of the Bollinger style, to which it lends power, body and vinosity. It has been one of the founding principles of Champagne Bollinger’s identity from the very beginning.

Bollinger is guided by a responsibility anchored in time and a commitment to people, the earth and our roots. This is a wine made for those who truly appreciate both the art of winemaking and the beauty of life itself. The Provence region offers the ideal growing conditions for the Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grapes, which are the classic blend used to create AIX Rosé. With mineral-rich soils, 300 days of sun per year, and the cooling Mistral winds, these vineyards thrive in this picturesque setting. Maison Saint Aix is not only one of the largest domaines in the AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence appellation, but it is also one of the highest, sitting 420m above sea level. This elevation provides cooler nights and a greater Mistral effect, which helps dry the vines on dewy mornings, resulting in even better fruit. Over the past decade, the estate has undergone a complete transformation, with state-of-the-art equipment and modern winemaking techniques. From temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to pneumatic presses and next-generation harvesting machinery, every step is taken to ensure the production of the highest quality rosé that only Provence can offer. The domaine's 50-60 year old Grenache vines guarantee the highest quality juice, while the fruit from the younger vines brings a refreshing element to the blend. To maintain the harmony of the land, a busy replanting schedule is in place, replacing up to 4 hectares of vines each year with new ones. In early September, the vineyards come alive with a whirlwind of activity from the break of dawn until noon. This dedicated effort guarantees the grapes' utmost freshness, the preservation of their delicate aromas and minimizes the risk of oxidation. It is through this meticulous process that AIX acquires its distinctive colour, delicate aromas, gentle acidity and impressive length. The symbol of the vines reaching towards the sky beautifully captures the enchantment of the land and the camaraderie of those who cherish it. It serves as a poignant reminder of the carefree days spent together under the warm sun and the abundance of shared meals, cherished moments and unforgettable memories that lie ahead. For Maison Saint Aix, this symbol is a daily affirmation of the simplicity and joy that life can offer when we choose not to complicate it.

Adèle focused on vineyards and winemaking while Pierre Nicolas focused on sales and marketing. Shipments to Great Britain began in 1815, followed by the United States in 1837. After Charles Perrier, Henri Gallice and his younger brother Octave became Perrier-Jouët directors. Octave, an art lover, met Emile Gallé in Paris and requested a design for Maison Perrier-Jouët, which became the iconic emblem of the brand. One of the world's oldest champagnes, a Perrier-Jouët vintage 1825, was opened and tasted in 2009. Harold Macmillan, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1957 to 1963, favoured vintage Perrier-Jouët. This passion has been passed down through the generations, shaping the House's philosophy of creative freedom and unconventional observation of nature. Maison Perrier-Jouët's affinity with the Art Nouveau movement is expressed through the emblematic anemone motif illustrated by Emile Gallé in 1902. Today, the House continues to reinvent luxury by collaborating with artists to create an extravagant universe. Along with their unique legacy, such as the creation of their first brut champagne in 1842 and the iconic floral Cuvée named Belle Epoque Cuvée, Perrier-Jouët also made history with the appointment of the first woman to hold the position of cellar master in 2020. Perrier-Jouët produces a wide range of vintage and non-vintage cuvée, with an annual production of approximately 3,000,000 bottles. The pride of the brand is its prestige label, Belle Epoque. With 266 acres of vineyards situated in the heart of Champagne, Perrier-Jouët maintains control over the quality and consistency of its champagne production. More than half of its vineyards are located in the Grand Crus of Cramant and Avize, allowing Perrier-Jouët to create exceptional champagne that is unparalleled in quality and taste. Today, as a member of the Pernod Ricard group of brands, Perrier-Jouët's legacy of exceptional champagne-making continues to thrive and evolve. This groundbreaking champagne was the first of its kind, introducing the concept of a lightly dosed champagne, now known as "brut". During a time when champagnes typically contained high sugar levels reaching up to 40%, Cuvée K dared to be different. It was dosed at a sugar level of less than 5%, a daringly low amount for that era. This truly marked a turning point in the history of champagne, as Maison Perrier-Jouët paved the way for the rise of brut champagnes. The success of Cuvée K can be attributed to Maison Perrier-Jouët's philosophy of using high-quality grapes that required very little added sugar. This commitment to sourcing exceptional grapes has been a guiding principle for the House throughout the years, allowing them to craft brut champagnes that maintain the purity and integrity of the fruit. Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut carries on this legacy, remaining true to Maison Perrier-Jouët's philosophy of minimal sugar dosage. In 2016, Pierrick expanded his range by starting a small négoce operation, sourcing must from friends who predominantly farm on the left side of the river. This addition includes premier crus such as Beauroy, Beauregard and Vau de Vey, as well as the grand cru of Bougros. In 2019, Pierrick inherited 8 acres of vines from his father-in-law in the southern sector of Chablis, around the village of Courgis. This inheritance includes Petit Chablis, 5.5 acres of Chablis and just over half an acre of the premier cru Les Butteaux. Pierrick Laroche's dedication to his craft is evident in every bottle of wine he produces. With a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, his wines showcase the unique terroir of Chablis, captivating enthusiasts with their finesse, complexity and distinct character. Produced by the historic Vietti estate in Castiglione Falletto, this wine offers a compelling introduction to the depth and complexity of Nebbiolo grown across the Langhe hills. The Perbacco bottling is crafted from select Nebbiolo vineyards, including parcels that would traditionally contribute to Vietti’s Barolo, giving the wine remarkable pedigree and seriousness for its classification.

The 2021 vintage benefited from balanced growing conditions, producing fruit with both concentration and freshness. In the glass, the wine shows a brilliant garnet hue typical of Nebbiolo, with aromatic layers that reveal both fruit purity and savoury nuance. The wine is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Shiraz grown entirely within the estate’s low-yielding vineyard. Every grape is harvested by hand, preserving fruit quality and allowing careful selection before fermentation. The fruit undergoes open fermentation, a traditional approach intended to create softer and more subtle tannins. Following fermentation, the wine is transferred to large-format casks and allowed to settle for approximately six months. It is subsequently matured for around one year in small French oak barriques comprising new, one-year-old and two-year-old barrels. This carefully measured maturation provides structure and savoury complexity while keeping the estate-grown fruit at the centre of the wine.

The 2024 vintage developed during warm and dry El Niño conditions that brought favourable weather throughout the spring growing period and harvest. Reduced vineyard moisture resulted in lower-than-average yields, contributing to the vintage’s limited availability and concentrated character. The wine opens with a perfumed and lifted bouquet of mulberry, blackberry and raspberry, complemented by subtle hints of coffee. Its berry flavours carry smoothly onto the palate, supported by polished mid-palate weight and finely integrated French oak. A gentle note of toasted oak introduces additional savoury depth without overwhelming the freshness of the fruit. The composition remains seamless and balanced, concluding with excellent length and persistence. Lake’s Folly advises that its Cabernets can possess cellaring potential of up to 20 years, depending on vintage conditions and storage. Bottled under cork and presented in a black Lake’s Folly branded box, the 1.5-litre magnum is particularly well suited to extended cellaring, collecting and special-occasion service.

Tasting Notes
NOSE
– Perfumed and lifted
Mulberry, blackberry and raspberry with subtle hints of coffee.

PALATE
– Smooth and finely balanced
Ripe berry fruit, polished mid-palate weight, finely integrated French oak and a gentle touch of toast.

FINISH
– Long and seamless
Persistent berry fruit supported by lingering, finely integrated oak.

Finer Details:
Style – Red Wine
Varietal – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Shiraz
Country – Australia
Region – New South Wales, Hunter Valley
Vintage – 2024
Bottle Size – 1.5L
ABV – 13%

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0043/9258/3217/files/2bffb7d0-757c-418b-a471-b50fc9c9539e.webp?v=1784165930
henschke-keyneton-euphonium-2023-1-5l
Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2023 1.5L

Product Description:
Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2023 is a classic Barossa and Eden Valley blend that pays tribute to the Henschke family’s long association with music and the brass bands that were a significant part of the Keyneton community. The grapes were barrel fermented in new French oak barriques, followed by approximately eleven months of maturation before the final wine was assembled. Although the oak contribution is substantial, the concentration and energy of the fruit allow it to remain integrated rather than dominant. The challenging 2021 growing season required careful vineyard management because of intermittent rainfall, yet Chardonnay emerged as one of the region’s strongest-performing varieties.

The resulting wine combines remarkable fruit density with a precise, linear structure and an elegant mineral character. Fresh lime, nashi pear, nectarine and white peach form the core of the wine, supported by grapefruit, lemon pith and mandarin peel. Toasted cashew and subtle oak-derived spice contribute richness without obscuring the wine’s freshness. The palate is energetic and finely poised, with natural acidity bringing clarity and direction through its concentrated fruit. Saline, wet-stone and phyllitic mineral notes add savoury complexity and reinforce its Margaret River identity. Despite its power, the wine retains an ethereal quality, with its components arranged around a firm and focused frame. The finish is exceptionally long, carrying citrus, stone fruit and mineral elements with sustained intensity. Bottled at 13.5% ABV under screwcap, the magnum format provides additional potential for slow and graceful development in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
NOSE
– Complex and finely detailed
Fresh lime, nashi pear, white peach and nectarine with mandarin peel, toasted cashew and subtle floral notes.

PALATE
– Powerful, precise and mineral
Concentrated citrus and stone fruit framed by vibrant natural acidity, saline minerality, wet stone and finely integrated French oak.

FINISH
– Exceptionally long and focused
Persistent grapefruit, lemon pith and white peach with lingering cashew, mineral tension and savoury oak spice.

Reviews & Accolades
“This stunning 2021 Margaret River Chardonnay Art Series shows beautiful racy lines with a slick and seamless style.” — Angus Hughson, Vinous, 98 Points

“The 2021 Art Series Chardonnay is detailed, focused and fresh, with powerful acidity and phenolics that work hand in hand.” — Erin Larkin, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, 97 Points

“Remarkably complex aromas of dominant stone fruit like nectarine with less of the pear and cut lime character you expect.” — Ray Jordan, Ray Jordan Wine, 98 Points

Finer Details:
Style – White Wine
Varietal – Chardonnay
Country – Australia
Region – Margaret River, Western Australia
Vintage – 2021
Bottle Size – 1.5L
ABV – 13.5%

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0043/9258/3217/files/Leeuwin_Estate_Art_Series_Chardonnay_2021_1.5L_wbox.webp?v=1785994184
caves-d-esclans-whispering-angel-rose-2024-1-5l
Caves D’Esclans Whispering Angel Rosé 2024 1.5L

Product Information:

A delightful pale pink, so pleasing to the eye it draws you in. With his acquisition of the Château in 2006, Sacha Lichine’s vision was to create the greatest rosés in the world, igniting the “Rosé Renaissance”. Château d’Esclans is home to Whispering Angel which is made from grapes sourced from amongst the most choice Vineyards in the vicinity of the Esclans Valley and nearby in the Cotes de Provence region.

A pivotal moment for owner, Sacha Lichine, was his 2006 acquisition of Château d’Esclans in Provence. In keeping with his uncanny sense of innovation, Sacha felt that Rosé had strong developmental opportunities to become more serious from a production standpoint in addition to being served and consumed more broadly. The result to this foresight energized by an abiding passion for making and promoting great wine, has resulted in building a world class branded range including Whispering Angel, Rock Angel, Château d’Esclans, Les Clans, Garrus and The Palm by Whispering Angel. In the process, Sacha has provided a strong contribution to unprecedented growth within the Rosé category.

At the end of 2019, LVMH purchased a 55% stake in Château d’Esclans forming a strategic alliance with Sacha Lichine who, in retaining a 45% stake in his company, works closely with Moët Hennessy by further developing his range of luxury rosés via premiumisation initiatives throughout the world marking yet another remarkable chapter in Sacha’s dynamic career to date.

Philosophy:

Château d’Esclans’ Harvest takes place each September from sunrise to noon to avoid the heat of the day. During the Harvest, grapes, at their ripest, are selected, picked and carefully placed in small (10 kilo) crates this size of which is chosen in order to avoid too many grapes at the top crushing grapes at the bottom of the crates. Once the grapes arrive to the cellars, they are sorted manually and then go through optical eye camera sorting. All grapes which go into vinification are perfectly de-stemmed and resemble each of the correct physical characteristics dictated by the wine maker including shape, size, colour and general condition.

The grapes are then sent through a soft crush mechanism. Temperature reduction ensures that freshness and vivacity are locked in. Subsequently, the wine makers determine which will be used to make barrel fermented (aged) wine or stainless steel fermented wine. The overall affect is clear, clean tannin free juice which gives the wines an agreeable characteristic and taste profile while ensuring that the colour is quite pale. Finally regarding blending, while there is little variation vintage to vintage, the cepage or percent/ types of different grape varieties that will make up the ultimate blend will differ with each new vintage however the taste profile remains of high-quality and consistent.

Nose - Musk Perfume, Mandarin, Strawberry
The freshness here is undeniable, as it exudes citrus, rose petals, nectarines, sliced dill and coriander and the signature strawberries and cream.

Palate - Strawberries and Cream, Pomegranate, Nectarines
Strawberries and pomegranate flow on the palate, sensual and succulent, topped with teasing, palate-pinching acidity.

Finish - Raspberry Acidity, Rounded, Grapefruit Tang
The palate holds hints of spicy minerality that lead into a smooth and round finish.

A well-rounded, focused and delicious rosé showing dried raspberries, frozen strawberries and mild spices on the nose.
